In Meeting the Sunset, two figures stand at the threshold between day and night, framed by a saturated horizon. Their bodies are stylized, almost architectural — flattened planes of color that echo the geometry of the landscape.

The sunset is not merely backdrop; it functions as an atmospheric field — a shared surface against which intimacy becomes visible. The couple’s proximity suggests protection, but also co-presence: two autonomous figures occupying the same visual rhythm.

Palm leaves and terrace lines create layered depth, situating the scene within a constructed leisure environment. Yet the moment resists spectacle. Sunglasses obscure direct gaze, shifting attention to posture and gesture — to the subtle choreography of closeness.

Color operates symbolically: pink and coral saturate the sky, while turquoise stabilizes the composition. Warm and cool tones intersect, reinforcing the idea of balance between individuality and partnership.

Rather than depicting romance as narrative, the work abstracts it into structure — a study of togetherness under light that is already fading.
