Personal Border examines the fragile line between individual identity and collective structure. At the center of the composition is the artist’s own handprint — a direct imprint of presence, functioning as both signature and map.
The red hand emerges against a fragmented, grid-like background composed of layered geometric blocks. These structured planes suggest social systems, territorial divisions, and constructed realities. In contrast, the hand — organic, textured, and imperfect — disrupts this order.
Thin red lines pierce through the surface, intersecting the palm and extending outward. They act as markers of tension: boundaries drawn, crossed, or imposed. The dotted contours surrounding the hand reinforce instability — a border that is never fully fixed, always negotiated.
The work speaks to the complexity of defining personal limits in a world shaped by shifting social, moral, and cultural frameworks. Rather than presenting borders as solid barriers, the piece suggests that they are fluid — formed through contact, resistance, and self-assertion.
Through the contrast between structure and imprint, control and vulnerability, Personal Border invites reflection on where the self ends and the world begins.
