In Submerged Light, the boundary between surface and depth becomes difficult to locate. Greens, deep blues, and flashes of warm reflected light move across the canvas in overlapping currents, while a solitary stone briefly interrupts the continuous flow. What initially appears highly recognizable begins, on closer viewing, to dissolve into color, rhythm, and shifting reflections.
 
Valeria Ocean uses light not simply to describe water, but to reveal its instability. Reflections stretch, submerged forms appear and disappear, and areas of unexpected luminosity seem to emerge from within the water itself. The eye is never allowed to settle completely; each passage leads into another.
 
Within the CALM series, the painting captures a moment when movement has not yet disappeared but is beginning to organize itself into quieter rhythms. Rather than representing stillness as an absence of motion, Submerged Light suggests calm as a gradual change in perception—the point at which visual noise recedes and attention becomes more precise.
