"Cube mate” is a work inspired by my deep love for dogs. For me, dogs have never been about breed or pedigree; they represent something much more universal. They embody loyalty, devotion, warmth, and a kind of unconditional love that feels both grounding and uplifting. In this painting, I chose not to portray a specific breed. Instead, I created a collective, symbolic image of a dog — a character assembled from simple geometric blocks, almost like a memory of childhood building toys, yet carrying the emotional weight of a real companion.
The piece is painted in acrylic on canvas, using a clear cubist approach. Each block is intentionally shaped and shaded to form a playful yet solid structure, giving the figure a sculptural presence. The dog’s glossy surface contrasts with the soft matte background, emphasizing its vibrancy and making it appear almost three-dimensional, as if ready to step forward. This contrast also highlights the idea that love and loyalty stand out brightly even in quiet, neutral surroundings.
Through this work, I wanted to express both the simplicity and the depth of what dogs mean to us — not just as pets, but as symbols of trust and companionship.
